Travel Advice
Travel Aware: staying safe and healthy abroad... The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have advice for staying safe and well abroad. To find out more about security, local laws and the latest travel information for your holiday destination, visit FCDO Travel Aware website. See gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice, for FCDO travel advice about individual destinations. Sign up for FCDO travel advice email alerts, so you automatically receive the latest travel advice updates and travel requirements for the destinations you want to know about. See travelhealthpro.org.uk for current travel health news. You should also seek advice on recommended vaccinations and precautions from a health professional - either a GP, a practice nurse, a pharmacist or a travel health clinic - ideally at least eight weeks before departure. All travel advice can change, so check regularly for updates.
If you are planning to travel to an EU country, your passport must be less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’) and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’). Passports issued more than 10 years prior to the date of travel are not accepted. Passengers travelling on a cruise may require 6 months validity. For other non-EU destinations, check the FCDO travel advice at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice for the country you want to travel to - read the entry requirements section – you may need up to 6 months. Please ensure you allow plenty of time if you need to renew/apply for a passport. It can currently take up to 10 weeks for a new passport to arrive.
